Walker Dominates EMCOS Winter Autosolo with Commanding Performance

Daniel Walker delivered a masterclass in precision driving to claim a convincing victory at the EMCOS Winter Autosolo 2025, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of his nearest rival with a total time of 281.3 seconds across the three tests.

Walker established his dominance early, setting the fastest combined time of 92.8 seconds in the first test with his Renault Clio. He maintained his advantage throughout the event, extending his lead to 5.1 seconds over Andy Laurence, also in a Renault Clio, by the conclusion of the competition.

Steve Conner rounded out the podium places in his Ford Puma, finishing just 0.7 seconds behind Laurence with a total time of 287.1 seconds, highlighting the fierce competition at the sharp end of the field.

The battle for fourth was equally intense, with David Fooks (Ford Puma) edging out Dave Atkinson (Mazda) by just 2.6 seconds after three tests. Derek Stewart completed the top six in his Mazda MX5.

Family rivalries added extra spice to proceedings, with the Walker clan showing particular strength. While Daniel took overall honours, Finn Walker managed a respectable 8th place in the shared Renault Clio. The Laurence family also impressed, with Andy taking second overall while Archie finished 7th and Immy 25th in their shared Clio.

In the Production Car Autotest (PCA) class, Emma Bruce put in a stellar performance in her Fiesta to claim class honours with a time of 329.0 seconds. The Mather family provided her closest competition, with Dale and Bridie taking second and third in class respectively in their shared Mini, separated by just 2.1 seconds after three tests.

The Clemow family showed remarkable consistency with Simon, Tom and Joe finishing 9th, 11th and 14th overall in their respective Austin Mini, Austin Mini and Volkswagen Polo.

The Mees pairing of Lucas and dad, Martin, were also in the mix, with Martin finishing on the same time as Tom Clemow in 10th place and Lucas battling with Immy Laurence, finishing in 26th place, less than 2 seconds separating them.

Further down the field, the Taylor family had a strong showing with Charles (Mini Cooper S) finishing 19th, Monty (Mini) 20th, and Dom (Mini Cooper) 31st.

The event showcased the accessibility of grassroots motorsport, with a diverse range of cars competing from hot hatches like the Renault Clio and Ford Puma to the diminutive Fiat Panda and the more specialist MK Indy.
