Milligan Clinches Nail-Biting Victory at Witney Morning After PCA

Jimmy Milligan emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins at the Witney Morning After Production Car Autotest, piloting his Ford Puma to a winning time of 193.0 seconds – just 0.4 seconds ahead of Steve Boyle’s Ford StreetKa.

The event featured a thrilling three-way battle throughout the day, with Mark in his Mazda MX5 also in contention until the final tests. The lead changed hands multiple times during the eight-test competition, showcasing the fine margins in this technical discipline.

Milligan set the early pace, topping the timesheets after the first test with 22.9 seconds. However, Mark’s MX5 proved quicker on the second test, allowing him to briefly take the overall lead with a cumulative time of 52.6 seconds, narrowly ahead of Milligan’s 53.2.

By the third test, Mark maintained his advantage with a total time of 79.2 seconds, but Milligan remained in close pursuit at 80.4 seconds. The Ford Puma driver gradually reeled in his rival, with the lead changing hands again after test five when Mark’s 125.7-second total was matched by Milligan’s 126.0.

The final three tests saw an intensely close battle develop between the top three competitors. Milligan’s consistency ultimately proved decisive as he maintained his narrow advantage through to the finish, despite strong challenges from both Boyle and Mark.

Further down the field, Jake Humphrey guided his Vauxhall Astra to fourth place with a time of 209.2 seconds, just six-tenths ahead of Nigel Walton’s Mazda MX5. Jamie Noble secured sixth place in another MX5, while Jeff completed the field in seventh, also driving an MX5.

The Mazda MX5 proved to be the most popular choice among competitors, with four of the seven entrants opting for the iconic roadster. However, it was Milligan’s Ford Puma that ultimately demonstrated the perfect balance of agility and precision required for success in this challenging format.
