Endean Triumphs in Tight SOCC February PCA Battle
Matt Endean claimed a hard-fought victory at the second round of the South Oxon Car Club’s 2026 Production Car Autotest series, piloting his Rover 25 to overall honours with a combined time of 1083.4 seconds across the 13 tests.
The event developed into a gripping two-horse race between Endean and James Hall in his MG ZR. After the opening test, the pair were separated by just one-tenth of a second, with Endean establishing a marginal lead that he would never relinquish. By the conclusion of the second test, Endean had extended his advantage to over 30 seconds, demonstrating exceptional consistency and car control throughout the early stages.
As the competition progressed, Endean continued to build his lead methodically, reaching the halfway point with a comfortable cushion over Hall. The gap between the top two remained relatively stable through tests 8-12, with both drivers showing remarkable consistency in their performances. The final test saw Endean complete his victory, finishing 26.8 seconds ahead of Hall.
John Risby rounded out the podium positions in his Citroen DS3, though he found himself unable to match the pace of the front-running duo. Risby maintained third position throughout the entire event, keeping Ethan Welsby’s BMW 3 Series at bay despite some spirited driving from the latter.
The midfield battle provided additional entertainment as Ollie Westcott’s Toyota Corolla and Chris Price’s Ford Fiesta exchanged positions multiple times during the early tests. Westcott eventually secured fifth place, finishing just over 46 seconds ahead of Price.
Further back, the Bromwich family shared a BMW 318ti, with Cain outpacing Oscar throughout the event. Meanwhile, Joel Price struggled to extract the maximum performance from his Ford Fiesta, finishing eighth overall.
The event showcased the accessibility of Production Car Autotests, with a diverse range of everyday road cars competing against the clock in a test of precision driving and car control. The technical nature of the course rewarded smooth, accurate driving rather than outright power, allowing the nimble Rover 25 and MG ZR to dominate proceedings.
